Doug Zilm

CEO/Director/Secretary

Mr. Zilm combines over 30 years of experience in the Retail Industry. Mr. Zilm is Haute Fabrications’s CEO, Director and Corporate Secretary, Mr. Zilm leads this project with experience leading multi-million dollar companies, project director of information technology, and information technology and business consultant. Doug has Midwestern roots, coastal experience, and global travels that give him a unique perspective on life and business.  He has over 30 years of management experience across several business sectors.  He has led small family run businesses to multimillion-dollar companies. His expertise lies in creating efficiencies, inventory controls, and getting the most out of his staff.

 

He has also presided over and served on numerous non-profit boards. These boards have ranged from the local community to state wide.  He has a firm belief that a business has not only responsibilities to its stakeholders but to the community as well and that good businesses are leaders in all aspects of life.

 

Doug balances his work life with being a father and partner at home.  He understands that this balance is necessary to being a responsible leader work, in the community, and being a role model for his son.

Arthur Wolf

Chief Innovation Officer

Mr. Wolf combines over 15 years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical and Software Engineering, after learning to code early with various programming languages and artistic education, Mr. Wolf worked over the years contributing to Open-Source projects such as wikitionary, early Perl6 efforts and javascript libraries, while earning a living as a web dev. While exploring his passion for electronics, he started participating in the early adventures in additive manufacturing back in 2008 with the revolutionary Reprap project that kick started the additive manufacturing revolution as well as participation with other Open-Source digital fabrication efforts.

In efforts to help work around the many limitations incurred by the electronics (mostly Arduino-based) imposed on those projects, Mr. Wolf created the Smoothie project, first as a firmware with many novel capabilities, then as a controller board (Smoothieboard) meant to run said firmware. After building a community of volunteers, a Kickstarter campaign was launched to bring the technology to market by enabling mass production of the hardware, and kickoff the launch of a new company (Robotseed). These endeavors were intended to continue sales and use those incomes to further underwrite development of the project.

Mr. Wolf has had his time and efforts are shared between managing the Smoothie community and dedicated to advancing the development along with Mr Cooper with the recently Kickstarter launched Smoothieboard v2 and Smoothieware v2 to include commercial consultation and contract development. Much of his energies are expended moving the microcontroller and firmware projects forward and providing support concurrently. Typically, the projects are supplemented by designing, developing and selling machines that run the Smoothie hardware which in turn enables financing of Smoothie research and development through its design to commercialization stages.

Mark Cooper

Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Cooper combines over 20 years of experience in the Electrical, Mechanical and Software Engineering, An electronics engineer, software engineer, and application developer who has dedicated his time in the last decade to producing a variety of open source hardware and software. His work has been focused on industrial motion controllers for machines like 3D printers, cnc systems, robotics and laser cutters. Vast years of experience in software development and design before learning electronics engineering and HDL give him a unique and invaluable perspective for making hardware meet software effectively. Currently the lead electronics engineer of the open source Smoothieware project.

 

Mark is a self-proclaimed geek and a technophile and back in the '80s and was trying to make 8051 microcontrollers drive robots in the '90s long before the age of the Arduino. Now with the help of the open source community Mark has access to all the resources needed to make it all happen.

 

Mark started Uberclock, LLC which was founded on the principal to help bring open source hardware to life. The recent growth of maker culture has made creating new things that were out of reach for some individual innovators just 10 years ago can seem downright trivial now. Uberclock motto was to give back to the maker culture that has so suddenly made practicable and make what is possible into realities!

Kevin Friesth

Mr. Friesth is the Inventor of the technology suite of Haute Fabrication. Founder, CSO and Chairman of Haute Fabrication, Inc. since before its inception, Mr. Friesth has been the company’s visionary, he utilizes and implements his vast experience and knowledge in product and services development, operations, business development, manufacturing, marketing and efforts with crowdfunding to position the company for short-term and long-term growth.

 

Mr. Friesth has over 35 years’ experience as an inventor, innovator, project developer with software and hardware engineering in the energy and aerospace field and worked as R&D developer on numerous other projects.

The primary role of Haute Fabrication's Board of Directors is to oversee how management serves the interests of stockholders and other stakeholders. To do this, Haute Fabrication's directors have adopted corporate governance principles aimed at ensuring that the Board is independent and fully informed on the key strategic and risk issues Haute Fabrication faces. Haute Fabrication plans to met its goal to have two-thirds of its Board be independent under a strict definition of independence. Today, 1 of the Board's 3 directors are independent. Each independent director is encouraged to visit Haute Fabrication's businesses and employees each year, typically without corporate management being present.

Dr. Devaraj combines over 20 years of experience in the Material Science industry and as an entrepreneur involving work in Industrial and Commercial Sectors. Dr. Devaraj has been extensively involved in the 3D printing industry, specifically SLS, for the last decade. He co-founded Structured Polymers and lead the company as CEO from its inception to an acquisition by Evonik Corporation.

Vikram has hands on experience in identifying polymers and formulating additives for commercially available and in-development powder-based additive manufacturing systems. He has worked with fine powders across a wide variety of industries. In addition to co-founder of Structured Polymers, Vikram recruited the critical mass non-co-founding employees. He has also led development of multiple key customer and successful investment relationships.

Vikram has hands on experience in developing feedstock for commercially available and in-development powder-based additive manufacturing systems. He has worked with fine powders across a wide variety of industries.

Dr. Devaraj holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.

Roxanne Warren

Ms. Warren brings to Haute Additive Manufacturing fourteen years of combined advanced and additive manufacturing leadership experience focused on: bringing new products to market, qualifying programs for the aerospace, defense and oil and gas market industries. To add, nineteen years of experience in software development and program management for SaaS, financial and product trading.

 

Roxanne is currently Director of Customer Operations at Link3D, the industry leader in Manufacturing Execution and Quality Management systems designed for the additive manufacturing industry.  As a graduate of Texas A&M, she serves as chair of TAMU's Material Sciences Advisory Board and is a student mentor as well as participates in Women in 3D printing.

Alexander Rössler

Mr. Rössler is an entrepreneur, software engineer, and roboticist. He is working as a Machine Tool UI consultant for his company Machine Koder. Alex helps machine tool manufacturers and robotic companies to create easy-to-use and good-looking HMIs and user interfaces for their machines.

Alex has helped many customers from different industries to reach their automation and robotic goals. Alex has over ten years of experience with creating HMIs using Qt with both C++ and Python.

Alex assists clients with machine tool UIs, also has profound knowledge in engineering’s such as electronics engineering, motion control systems, robotics, and M2M middleware.

Alex has a broad understanding of machine tools to analyze and understand entire system infrastructures. Currently, he is also starting a new robotics business in support of automating and roboticization of the foodservice industry.

Dr. James Mikulak

COO of Structured Polymers

 

Dr. Mikulak was the design team lead of the first commercial SLS system. His background includes deep knowledge of 3D CAD product design, select 3D printing manufacturing methods and materials, and senior management business development.

Before Structured Polymers, James helped co-found four successful technology manufacturing companies and also served as the design team lead at DTM Corp, creator of the first SLS 3D printing machine.

He has held multiple C-level positions at various manufacturing and engineering companies.

Tom Mueller MBA, MS

Mueller Additive Manufacturing Solutions

Mr. Mueller is the founder and president of Mueller Additive Manufacturing Solutions, a consulting company focusing on metal casting applications of additive manufacturing.  He has been involved in 3D printing applications for more than 30 years.  He led the first beta site for stereolithography at Baxter Healthcare in the late 80s.  He then went on to found two 3D printing service companies.  One of those companies, Express Pattern was sold to 3D Systems.  He worked for 3D Systems as Director of Business Development focusing on metal casting applications and later for Voxeljet as Director of Metal Casting applications.

Tom has published more than 50 technical papers and journal articles related to 3D printing applications.  He holds BSME and MSME degrees from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.

Dr. Joseph Beaman

University of Texas Professor

Advisor to Structured Polymers

Dr. Joseph J. Beaman joined The University of Texas at Austin faculty in 1979 after receiving his Sc.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in the area of nonlinear control in the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering. He holds the Earnest F. Gloyna Regents Chair in Engineering, and served as Department Chair for Mechanical Engineering between the years of 2000 and 2011. His career work has been in both manufacturing and control, and he is licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. His specific manufacturing research interest is in Solid Freeform Fabrication, a manufacturing technology that produces freeform solid objects directly from a computer model of the object without part-specific tooling or knowledge. Professor Beaman coined this term in 1987. Professor Beaman initiated research in the area in 1985 and was the first academic researcher in the field. One of the most successful Solid Freeform Fabrication approaches, Selective Laser Sintering, was a process that was developed in his laboratory.

Professor Beaman received the National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award in 1984, the inaugural year. In 2011, he was named Distinguished Mechanical Engineer by the Mechanical Engineering Distinguished Alumni organization at The University of Texas at Austin.

Mr. Soerensen has 20+ years experience in high-level Purchasing Management and Operations Management positions. His experience includes supervising up to 10 direct Managers with up to 100 employees and  budgetary responsibilities of up to 330M EUR ($472M USD).  His solid manufacturing management experience includes start-ups, logistics, and total plant direction responsibility. He possesses strong communication skills with international divisions, suppliers, vendors and customers, in both traditional and matrix organizations. Joergen has delivered significant improvements in regards to cost optimization, process improvements and ensuring sourcing to be a key player in the value chain. Joergen is currently with  KK Wind Solutions as Director Strategic Sourcing.
