Haute Fabrication is a service provider of Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS), also commonly known as metal 3d printing or selective laser melting (SLM) and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS). Additionally, sheet metal, casting and other processes are available as a full featured service bureau.

Utilizing the DMLS or SLS or SLA process, single or multiple fabricated parts with some of the most complex geometries possible are fabricated layer-by-layer (down to 20 microns).

The DMLS or SLS process is created directly from slices of 3D CAD data by selectively melting layers of powdered metals, polymers or ceramics and other types of powdered material particles on with each layer on top of each other with a laser beam.

Additionally SLA processes process is created directly from slices of 3D CAD data by selectively melting layers of powdered metals, polymers or ceramics and other types of powdered material particles on with each layer on top of each other with a laser beam.

Thus, parts built using a DMLS or SLS printer have excellent mechanical properties equivalent to wrought materials, very high detail resolution, and exceptional surface quality. The powdered material is melted entirely to create a fully dense, fine, homogenous structure. Unique geometric freedom of design enables DMLS or SLS to form cavities and undercuts, which with conventional machining, casting, molding methods or combinations therein, can only be fabricated with great difficulty, at great cost, if at all.

Additionally, when a part needs to be tested and re-designed which may occur over and over in the proof of concept and prototyping process, the typical lead time for receiving a traditionally tooled part can create a large timeline bottleneck to reach the final production processes. DMLS or SLS technology produces parts that are extremely high quality and can be built in a matter of hours or days rather than weeks. 3D printing functional prototypes and rapid tooling or even mass production in short order radically impacts design processes, accelerating design cycles and time to market can make or break a company.

Depending on size and geometries, in some cases the turnaround time for a part can be as little as a few hours, larger components in a matter of only days. Furthermore, these parts can undergo functional testing in the environment for which they were designed.
